How does it work?

From photo to plan in a few minutes.

No app to install and no waiting room. Everything happens in the WhatsApp chat you already use.

  1. Say hi to Qera

Agree to the terms and the privacy notice. Qera asks before it looks at any photo.

  2. Send a clear photo

Good light, about a hand's length away. Location and camera details are stripped before it's stored.

  3. Say who it's for, then four questions

Where it is, how long it's been there, whether it's hot or leaking, and any health risks like diabetes or a fever.

  4. Get a colour and first aid

GREEN, AMBER or RED, what to do now and what to watch for. Then Qera checks in on day 3.

What do the colours mean?

Every colour comes with a next step.

GREEN

Care for it at home.

Keep it clean and covered. Send another photo on day 3 and Qera compares the two.

AMBER

Have it checked within 24 hours.

By a pharmacist, clinic, doctor or vet. You can ask a verified clinic nearby to call you.

RED

Get help now.

Go to an emergency unit or a 24-hour vet. Qera gives you the numbers first, and your brief is free.

Qera gives triage, not a diagnosis. An AI model suggests the colour and fixed safety rules check it. The rules can make a result more cautious, never less. It can still be wrong, so if you're worried, get seen whatever the colour.

Will it check on us later?

Qera keeps watching for 7 days.

On day 3 it asks for a new photo in similar light and compares it with the first. If it's getting worse, Qera says so, never lowers the colour, and tells you what to do next.

  1. Day 1: redness reaching the pen lineDay 1AMBER
  2. Day 3: redness well inside the pen lineDay 3Healing
  3. Day 7: a faint pink markDay 7Healed

Can I use it for my dog?

One number for the whole household. Pets too.

Everyone gets their own cases

Add the people you look after and your pets, then tell Qera who each photo is for. Each one gets separate cases and their own 7 days of tracking. You need to be 18 or older, and the parent or guardian of any child you add.

Pet advice is written for animals

  • Qera checks its advice against a list of creams, gels and oils that poison pets when licked, and takes them out.
  • Every pet result tells you to fit a cone (e-collar) before anything goes on the wound.
  • RED means a 24-hour emergency vet, straight away.
  • If a vet calls you through Qera, the fees for seeing your animal are capped at R180.

What do I show the nurse?

The Clinical Intake Brief.

A PDF of the case for the counter or the consulting room, with every photo, your answers and a care guide to keep. You don't have to remember the details at 2am, or repeat them.

  • Every photo in order, and how it changed
  • What you told Qera, in the words a nurse, pharmacist, doctor or vet will look for
  • R30 by card, EFT, Capitec Pay or Apple Pay. Paystack takes the payment, so we never see your card details.

Free for RED. It arrives on WhatsApp within a few minutes, so you can show it when you get there.

Can someone call me back?

Ask a verified clinic nearby to call you.

For AMBER and RED cases. Every partner signs the Fair-Fee Covenant before they can phone you, and it caps what they charge to see you.

PeopleR150cap per visit
AnimalsR180cap per visit

The cap covers the consultation and any admin, facility or after-hours fee, added together. Medicines, dressings, procedures and tests aren't capped. If you're charged more than the cap, reply OVERCHARGED within 60 days and we'll check the invoice.

Triage

Not a diagnosis

It can be wrong. If you're worried, get seen whatever the colour.

I have a few more questions.

Ask away.

Can't see yours? Email support@qera.co.za.

Is Qera a doctor?

No. Qera gives triage, not a diagnosis: it tells you how urgent something looks and what to do next. Nobody at Qera is your doctor or your animal's vet. If you're worried, get seen whatever the colour.

What does it cost?

Triage and the 7-day check-ins are free. The Clinical Intake Brief costs R30, and it's free when a case is RED.

Does a person look at my photo?

Not before you get your result. An AI model suggests the colour and fixed safety rules check it. The rules can raise the level but never lower it. Email us if you'd like a person to look at a result.

What happens to my photos?

Location and camera details are stripped before a photo is stored, and photos are deleted 30 days after the case closes. An AI provider in the United States analyses each photo, without your name or number. A clinic gets your number, your answers and the photos only after you ask to be called and it accepts.

Can I use it for my child or my pet?

Yes. You need to be 18 or older, and the parent or guardian of the child. Tell Qera when a photo is for your dog, cat or other animal: the first-aid steps are written for animals, and RED sends you to a 24-hour emergency vet.

What will a clinic charge me?

Partners agree to the Fair-Fee Covenant: no more than R150 to see a person and R180 to see an animal. The cap covers the consultation and any admin, facility or after-hours fee, added together. Medicines, dressings, procedures and tests aren't capped. If you think you were overcharged, reply OVERCHARGED within 60 days and send a photo of the invoice.

How do I delete my data?

Reply DELETE MY DATA on WhatsApp, or sign in at My cases. We erase your profile, cases, photos and briefs. Payment records are kept for at least 5 years, because tax law requires it.

What if it's an emergency?

Don't wait for a chat. Call 10177 for an ambulance, or 112 from a mobile. For an animal, go straight to the nearest 24-hour vet.

Which languages does it speak?

Qera's own messages are in English for now, including the questions, the buttons, the colour and the emergency numbers. What it says about your photo and the first-aid steps come back in the language you write in.
